Cups & Discs Care Tips
🧼 How to Clean & Care for Your Menstrual Cup or Disc
Hume’s Cups and Discs are made to last — with proper care, they can serve you for 10+ years. Here’s how to keep them clean, safe, and comfortable to use.
🔄 Before First Use
- Boil your cup or disc in water for 5–7 minutes
- Make sure it’s fully submerged and not touching the bottom of the pot
- Let it cool for a few minutes before using or storing
- Store in a breathable cotton pouch, never in an airtight container
🚿 During Your Cycle
- Rinse with clean cold or warm water after each removal
- Use mild, fragrance-free soap if desired — or just water
- Avoid antibacterial soap, bleach, vinegar, or harsh chemicals
💡 On the go? Bring a small bottle of clean water. You can empty your cup or disc into the toilet, then rinse it over the toilet with the bottle — no need to go to the sink. If needed, store the used cup in your pouch and insert a fresh one.
🧴 Removal Tips
- Cups: Break the seal by gently pinching the base before removing — never pull from the stem
- Discs: Hook your finger under the rim to slide it out — discs don’t use suction
🧼 After Each Cycle
- Boil again for 5–7 minutes to sanitize
- Let it dry fully before storing
👜 Storage
- Always store your clean cup or disc in its cotton pouch
- Keep in a cool, dry place
