Pads Care Tips
🧼 How to Wash & Care for Your Reusable Pads
Reusable cloth pads are easy to care for — and with just a little love, they’ll last for years. Follow these simple tips to keep them fresh, clean, and comfortable.
🩸 Before First Use
To activate absorbency, wash your pads before first use.
Over time, cotton absorbs better as the fabric naturally loosens with repeated washing.
💧 After Use
Rinsing your pads in cold water is optional — but it can make washing easier and help reduce staining.
Many women prefer to wash their pads by hand in the shower, then hang them to air dry right after. It’s totally optional — do what works best for you.
🧺 Washing
-
Machine wash on a regular cycle (avoid gentle cycles, which may not clean them fully)
-
Wash with a full load of similar items
-
Use mild liquid detergent when possible — powdered detergent can sometimes leave residue between the cotton fibers
-
Add a splash of vinegar to help soften the fabric naturally
-
Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and harsh chemicals
🌤 Drying
-
Dry on medium/regular heat or let them air-dry
-
If air drying, snap the wings together and hang them from a hanger
-
Tip: Hang only up to 3 pads per hanger to allow full drying
-
Bonus: Sunlight naturally removes stains and odors
🧼 Stain Tips
-
Use lemon juice, baking soda, or vinegar — or even all three
-
Baking soda and vinegar will bubble, but they work great together
-
Don’t wait too long to wash your pads — the sooner, the better for stain prevention
👜 Storage
-
Store your used pads in a wet bag or breathable container until wash day
-
Avoid airtight containers while the pads are damp — this can trap moisture and lead to odor or mold
-
If storing in a wet bag, be sure not to leave them too long without washing (more than a day is not ideal)
